Making Deserts in COVID-19

This year has been a wild ride.  I don't understand how so much fraud and craziness has gone on, but what I do know is that baking a fantastic dessert from your favorite candy boxes is something that won't change.  Well as long as the economic lockdowns are about to happen again you can still get your favorite candy boxes, but that may not be forever.  So today I want to talk about what dishes tend to keep my family happy and calm during these wild and crazy rides. 

 

The first thing that really matters is the ability to get ingredients for all of our dishes.  I think that in each location across the United States and going even county to the county the laws are different.  So before you go out to get those yummy treats and candies for your dishes make sure you are following the local law so you are able to shop without getting arrested.  This sounds a bit nuts, but when it comes to getting those things you need, safety is key.  So look up your local regulations so you can get to the shopping market with no issues.  It is going to be a safe bet that you and all your family members will need a mask.

 

Now once you have all of your ingredients I want to walk through some surprising things that you can use to make amazing cookies.  One thing that has been gone from our shelves for a long time is cookie mixes.  But an alternative to getting great chocolate chip cookies is making it from pancake mix.  I found a great recipe that tastes really good and provides incredible chocolate chip cookies.  What you will need is a stick of butter.  Then you will need to get some vanilla and also some semi-sweet chocolate chips.  Make sure you have an egg and either some brown sugar or regular sugar.  It is basically a cup of all of these things except the vanilla.  Only a tiny splash of that!  Once you get it all together you bake it on 350 for 9 minutes and incredible fluffy and chewy chocolate chip cookies pop out!  It really is a cool thing and for us we use the Keto-friendly pancake mix and it is even a little more healthy!

 

But another great recipe is going to making your favorite sweet treat cake bowl.  This comes into play when we are needing a big desert for a lot of people over or just a big family get together.  It consists of two cake mix boxes, preferably chocolate and two cool whip containers and two boxes of jello.  Now throw in your favorite sweet treat from Halloween and you are on the road to an amazing treat for the whole family.  Basically, you bake it all and mix it all in layers in a giant bowl and you end up with a layered sweet cake that is amazing and kids will love.  But be warned it is rather sweet and may be a bit much for those with refined taste.
