Business can be a very complicated world and running your own business is even more complicated. There are so many different ways to run a company and ways to ruin it. No one wants to start a failing company or even be apart of one but there are some things that just seem to make that happen. One area that seems to get over looked a lot is the type of packaging that a product has and what impact that can really have on the company and sales.
First thing is focus on is cost. There are lots of ways that a company can fail and not watching costs is the biggest one. Every single thing has a cost and sometimes it’s time, and sometimes its literally the cost of the packaging. It could also be as simple as the shipping costs to get your packages to you. So make sure you are tracking everything and understand what competition exists and what price breaks other companies can offer. It is worth taking the time to understand the costs involved and ask others for help to understand what hidden fees and things may be in the works.
Aesthetics is a huge area when it comes to making candy. If you are making a new candy or even a similar version to another candy the way it looks can impact every aspect of it. You want the candy boxes to pop off the shelf. It is sometimes worth it to do lots of tets in lots of different areas. Locations have a big impact on how people feel about a product. One color may be perfect for one area and mean something totally different in another.
Design and feel are big when it comes to candy boxes and the choices people will make. To be successful people must feel that the package they are looking at is the right one for them. It has to hit home and sometimes it will take lots of iterations to get the right look. So take that into account and make sure the costs are going to be acceptable in getting the look and feel of your target market.
The memories it produces can have a great impact on the purchaser so if you can get your package to tell a story they relate to and can maybe remember that should be part of your design. The impact of memories and past feelings can instantly get someone to buy your product. So don’t discount it!
